Butterfly Gift Tag

The humble gift tag – it can tell who a gift is for, who it is from and the reason it is being given – very functional; however with a little time and effort it can turn a gift from being one of the bunch to being something extra special.

Butterfly Gift Tag

This tag started life as a die cut piece of white card approximately 51/2” tall by 3” wide (14cm x 7.5cm).

Using a blending tool, Milled Lavender Distress Ink was used to give all-over colour to the tag then Dusty Concord was applied around the edges – this technique naturally darkens the very edge of the tag giving a lovely soft graded colour.

The next layer of colour was again Dusty Concord DI, this time with a script stamp.

Once these layers were dry, two further stamps – one a floral flourish, the other a beautiful swirl butterfly – were stamped using Versamark, both designs were taken over the edge adding to the vintage look of the tag.

WOW silver embossing powder was sprinkled over the Versamark and melted with a heat gun.

The butterfly embellishment is from a Hunkydory Butterfly Sorbet pack of die-cut  matching card and acetate butterflies and the finishing touches are a silver woven cord and a piece of plum coloured satin ribbon tied in a simple knot.

Now the humble gift tag is both functional and beautiful!

Having launched into challenges with ‘My First Challenge Entry’, I have decided to enter Pan Pastel UK’s Tag It challenge – looking at these entries, I’m obviously going through my ‘purple phase’!!
