Sometimes I forget just how effective a seemingly simple topper die can be – take the Tattered Lace Rose die (D033), for example.
I first cut the whole die in a dark green mirror card, then a rose head in a deep red holographic card which I overlaid on the green die cut using slivers of foam pads to give dimension.
The rose was then stuck to a glitter card ‘decorative’ circle die cut.
So I did not overwhelm the rose with a backing paper on the 5” x 5” scalloped card base, I used a rose stamp and a couple of appropriately coloured chalk inks from my stash to produce a background – techniques of over-the-edge stamping and second generation stamping are so effective in producing a subtle background.
For the greeting I used a ‘peel-off’ coloured with a coordinating Promarker pen affixed to a smaller ‘decorative’ circle cut from the same glitter card.
The finishing touch was provided by four pale pink self-adhesive pearls.
